Many museums, churches and corporate headquarters house the work of Scandinavian modernist lighting designer Carl Fagerlund. Originally an illustration teacher, Fagerlund turned to the world of lighting design in the 1940s, with the advantage of an artist's eye. Today, his table lamps, chandeliers, sconces and other lighting fixtures enrich homes and continue to captivate collectors around the world.

Fagerlund is best known for his work at Orrefors Glassworks, a legendary glassworks in Småland that won worldwide acclaim for its products after presenting a range of decorative objects and art glass at the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts - the massive design show that brought Art Deco to the world's attention. Fagerlund joined Orrefors in 1946 and for more than three decades designed pendants, recessed lighting, a range of Murano glass works and other intricate lighting: midcentury modernist.

Fagerlund's designs can be found on Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde, a museum "castle" that was once the private residence of royalty, the Swedish Embassy in Tokyo and the headquarters of General Motors, U.S.A. in Detroit, Michigan.
