Jaeger-LeCoultre is synonymous with prestige, precision and innovation. In 1903, Edmond Jaeger, a Paris-based watchmaker for the French Navy, challenged Swiss manufacturers to develop and produce the ultra-thin movements he had invented[10]. Jacques-David LeCoultre, Antoine's grandson and head of production at LeCoultre & Cie, took up the challenge and gave birth to a collection of ultra-thin pocket watches, including the world's thinnest in 1907, equipped with the LeCoultre Calibre 145[10]. That same year, French jeweler Cartier, one of Jaeger's clients, signed a contract with the Parisian watchmaker that all Jaeger movements would be exclusive to Cartier for a period of fifteen years. The movements are produced by LeCoultre[10]. Edmond Jaeger also acquired the patent for the Atmos atmospheric clock from its inventor, Jean-Léon Reutter, and licensed it to LeCoultre from 1936 for France, and in 1937 for Switzerland. The collaboration between Jaeger and LeCoultre allowed the company to be officially renamed Jaeger-LeCoultre in 1937.
